Back when the first stud finders came out, we thought they were the greatest thing since sliced bread. But technology's brought those old stud finders into the 21st century, and here we have Strait-Line's Wall Scanner 150, aptly named because it does so much more than find studs---it could save your life. Accuscan technology locates not just wood and metal studs, but live A/C wires and pipes behind three surfaces: drywall, paneling and tile. And funny how when your old stud finder lit up, you never had that pencil in hand to mark the stud's edge. You won't need one anymore, thanks to the clever built-in marking element on the Wall Scanner. Just press the button when the liquid crystal display indicates a stud and the unit beeps, and you'll get a clear mark. Since it runs on batteries, we think it was great of Strait-Line to give it automatic power on contact, and an integrated belt clip keeps the tool handy. Strait-Line left no room for improvement on this one.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Do Not Recommend / Sends Poor Quality like item
This Vender (Workshop Tools) sent wrong item, Sent a lesser like item that cost $7.97 and charged me $19.99, How do I know, Vender did not bother removing sale tag marked $7.97, To add insult to in injury, Item was shipped in a damaged box, US Post office had marked box Damaged when received. Buyer Beware. I got ripped off.
no better than the others
I've tried a number of different stud finders in different price ranges and from different manufacturers. This one worked no better than the others, which in a word is awful. It will "identify" a stud location on one pass and give no indication over that same location on the next pass. So if you don't mind playing "guess where the stud is" and punching multiple holes in your wall you'll love this baby.
Very Pleased
I used a friend's Zircon stud finder in February and did not like it. It gave sporadic indications, however it was their least expensive model and I don't know what kind of treatment it was subjected to before I used it (it was not new). I bought the Straight-Line 150 LCD since it seemed to have the best overall reviews and it was in my price range. Simply stated, if you READ and FOLLOW the directions, the tool works splendidly (I am not connected in any way to the Straight-Line manufacturing company).... more info
Fuctional but not great
I was able to find studs, but it took alot of work. Had to check over and over to get an idea of where the studs were. Glad I don't have to use this thing professionally!
